In case you havent read any of my other posts on this site, I feel quite strongly about the unemployment issue. Fair enough, if somebody is GENUINELY seeking work and wants a job, but are struggling to find one, I sympathise. Naturally, im not against people with geniune illness or mental illness either. For the rest of the lazy arseholes out there, they need to be made to work for their "free" money. Why should I get out of bed each morning, rain or shine, and go to work so I can pay for these idle swines to give me a little wave through the curtains, then crawl back into their beds? It really pisses me off.
There is something very very wrong in a country where the unemployed people lead better lives than the working people. And dont give me all that "yeh, but they cant honestly be happy living that way" bollocks, because quite obviously they are... or they would have a bloody job. Of course, their answer to that would be "there are no jobs around"... so what are those little adverts littered all around the local newspapers each week? And what about all those hundreds on entries on your local job centre computers? What about these jobs for example, listed with the Eden Brown Group? Are they not really there? Or is it that perhaps you dont WANT to work? Yes, thought so.... Write Comment (3) |

I was sat looking out of the window the other day at the fine British weather when I decided that I needed to brighten things up a little. No, not just my life, but my house too. So, as I scanned the room, I decided to redecorate and freshen up the lounge with a new set of blinds and perhaps a couple of new canvas prints for the wall.
Ok, you would think that was easy right? Wrong! The paint for decorating the walls with was fairly straightforward. In fact, even order the canvas prints off the internet was a doddle. However, the one thing that you would have suspected as being the easiest turned out to be a total nightmare...ordering blinds.
Now from previous experience, I've always thought that blinds could be pretty much made to fit any shape and size of window. However it seemed that when I spoke to many local "expert" blind installers, that only certain combination's of sizes are possible. Not a clue why, but there we go! Then it all changed....
Whilst Googling, I came across a company called Tuiss who were based not a million miles from me, but more importantly, actually looked like they knew what they were talking about. Just a phone call later and I hit that "BAM!" moment, where you realise that you have spoken to somebody who is not only passionate about their job, but actually knows the subject inside and out. I was sold instantly. When I'm working with people of this caliber, I actually do not mind paying a little more for the luxury. I would by far prefer to have knowledgeable passionate people who will bend over backwards to get the job done right and that I trust....and this is what surprised me... Tuiss was actually one of the best value suppliers out of the 8 I had tried.
So, armed with all the info and my vast DIY knowledge (oh dear!!) I decided I would also order some blackout blinds for the bedroom while I was at it, and perhaps a new print for above the bed. Well, literally 2 days later, I had everything I needed to get busy and I'd already taken the initiative and redecorated the lounge walls. When I get 5 mins, I'll take some photos and put them up, so you can see my fine DIY prowess!
So, to summerise.... I'm a DIY god, my lounge and bedroom are now stunning and there is this fabulous company called Tuiss (who by the way I do not have any affiliation with!) who will supply your blinds! So, get busy and give your house a makeover for the new year!

Kids these days think they have it rough, but if they were John Lochrie from Galashiels in Scotland, they would have something to complain about!
John Lochrie was born in Galashiels on March 18th, 1861. the son of Neil Lochrie and Janet Provan. John grew up to be a miner like his father, and from the age of just 10 years old, he was operating the trap doors, as a trapper boy, ensuring that gas explosions didnt harm the miners down in the Galashiels mines. Thats an awful lot of responsibility for a lad of 10, to be in charge of ensuring the safety of all those workers!

It's a little known phenomena, outside scientific circles (and once upon a time, informed science fiction writers), that a spaceship in orbit around a planet slows down in order to go "faster". Faster, in that as it slows, it's orbital position (distance from the planet's surface) decreases, and it completes an entire revolution of said planet in less time.
"WTF? Where are you going with this one, Alan?" Bear with me! Write Comment (0) |

So England are out of the World Cup again... whats new there. Lets be completely honest, they didnt really stand a chance from the outset, and yet the England fans fooled themselves into thinking that we may just do it this time. Whatever! Write Comment (0) |

Music was pretty big in the seventies, and very much a part of the family. We had a Rediffusion TV with a switch in the window sill allowing us to listen to the radio through the telly! How wondrous that this was achieved in the 70s! On Sunday's almost the entire family would listen to the top 20 (as it was then) and I'd play along on the drums (chair seat) with knitting needles - beat that phil collins! Then there was Top of The Pops of course, Supersonic, Revolver, Marc etc. Even Tiswas was full of cool music!
