I was thinking the other day about Urban Myths. You know the ones: A motorcyclist was travelling down a country road late one night and he saw a young woman thumbing a lift. He stops and ask's her where she wants to go, she says nothing but gets on the back of the bike. He thinks she is probably nervous so he'll drive on a while until she says something. About a mile later he decides to stop and ask her where she wants to go, he stops the bike, turns round and she's gone! Thinking she has fallen off, he spins the bike round and starts to go back down the road to search for her. He finds no sign of her but he remembers passing a cottage so he stops there. Up he goes to the front door and knocks. A few moments later a little old lady answers and asks him what he wants. He tells her the story and she starts to sob. "Whats the matter?" he asks, "Do you know the girl?" "Yes" she replies, "That girl is my daughter and she was killed down this road on a motorcycle a year ago tonight" You know the kind of thing, but I wonder if that is/was true? I bet you know lots like that one. Has an Urban Myth ever happened to you? What I mean is, these storys (if thats what they are) have to start somewhere dont they?
