I love animals. And insects for that matter. Mind you, Im not keen on spiders in my bed or ants on my toast. It struck me the other day that some of us refer to animals a lot in our daily life, eg; "Love Rat", "Crafty as a Fox", "Cheeky Monkey", "Dirty Cow", "She's no Spring Chicken" and there are also some references to "Beavers" and "Donkeys" but Im not sure in what context they are used. But you get the idea. Ive also heard people call others an "Animal" when refering to a violent act they've witness them do or heard about them doing. Now, I dont know a lot about the animal kingdom, but I bet there isn't many animals out there that kill or injure others just for the fun of it. Some of you reading this may say "What about about a Fox and it's treatment to Chickens?" Well, I'll try and set the scene, a Fox will invade a chicken coop or run (when it can get in, of course) and kill a lot of Chickens and take one. I know this because it has happened to me a couple of times, so, some people ask why does the Fox have to kill all or nearly all of the Chickens and only take one. Well, two schools of thought here. Firstly, the Fox, when he gets in, kills as many as he can because he thinks that after he has taken one of the Chickens home to his family, he can come back for some more tomorrow night because theyre not going anywhere. Most, or maybe all of them are dead. Of course, he doesent reckon on the owner of the Chickens clearing up the mess and making sure he cant get back in. Second theory, when the Fox gets in to the Chickens, he is overcome with a kind of blood lust and goes into a frenzy, not helped by the frightened Chickens going beserk, and proceeds to slaughter as many as he can. To be honest, Im not sure about either theory but I do know a couple of things. In my case, it was my fault for not locking the Chickens up properly and secondly, the Fox and his family has got to eat. I mean, he cant go to his local shop can he? Oh, and while Im on....Ban Fox Hunting? YES PLEASE and why didnt they ban it when they banned Bear Baiting. Humans eh??? Only registered users can write comments.
