Dole money entitlement E-mail
Written by Baz
In case you havent read any of my other posts on this site, I feel quite strongly about the unemployment issue. Fair enough, if somebody is GENUINELY seeking work and wants a job, but are struggling to find one, I sympathise. Naturally, im not against people with geniune illness or mental illness either. For the rest of the lazy arseholes out there, they need to be made to work for their "free" money.

Why should I get out of bed each morning, rain or shine, and go to work so I can pay for these idle swines to give me a little wave through the curtains, then crawl back into their beds? It really pisses me off.

There is something very very wrong in a country where the unemployed people lead better lives than the working people. And dont give me all that "yeh, but they cant honestly be happy living that way" bollocks, because quite obviously they are... or they would have a bloody job. Of course, their answer to that would be "there are no jobs around"... so what are those little adverts littered all around the local newspapers each week? And what about all those hundreds on entries on your local job centre computers? Are they not really there? Or is it that perhaps you dont WANT to work? Yes, thought so....

My solution to this "take take take" mentality, where the dossers just sit on their fat arses all day rotting and playing computer games is this.... make them earn their dole money.

Everytime I call the council to say there is a problem with something locally, im always told "Sorry, we dont have the staff available at the moment for that job"... so why not get the idle sods you are paying each week to do it? A recent example of this:

I went to the cemetary where my nan is buried and walked to her grave. The footpaths were littered with leaves, branches, and a whole manner of other shite. Now, I refuse bluntly to clear up this mess. Why? Because every week, I part with a fair sized fraction of my earnings to pay for this kind of thing to be done by other people who are employed for this. I work hard enough in my own job. So, I called the council and was told (or more fobbed off) "Sorry, but we dont have the staff at the moment for that job to be done"..... Hang on... what about those thousands of people in my area that say "I cant find a job?"... there is one sat there, just waiting to be done! Make them earn their fecking dole! Or is that unfair, in this politically correct world of ours? We cant expect unemployed people to actually WORK can we? Shock horror!

Work for a living? You mean get out of bed in the morning?!

My suggestion is, EVERYBODY (not including the disabled or mentally ill of course) should work a minimum of 20 hours a week. The council should be able to fix these people up with jobs like litter picking, cleaning up leaves, painting... none of these jobs require a degree in science. And if they refuse to do it? Stop their bloody handouts! They have it far too easy. Afterall, why SHOULDNT they work for their money? I can think of a million jobs that would benefit from a scheme like this. Also, wouldnt the people feel a little pride that they have actually earned their money? Unlikely, but tough shit!

This scheme would almost definately make people feel like going back to work too! Would they prefer to work 20 hours for their dole money, or work 40 hours from a decent wage? Suddenly, there is an incentive to work for them! Sitting on your arse and having money rolling in, would no longer be an option.

I tell you what, if I was Prime Minister, this country would be run very very differently to how its run now. I would make it fairer for the decent folk who clearly want to lead a decent life and pull their weight... as for the scum bags who cant be bothered, or prefer to rob for their money, id have them al working their balls off for a pittance... afterall, they deserve nothing more!

working in order to get dole actually makes some sense, especially as it'd stop a lot of the people making fraudlent claims. i was unfortunate enough to be on the dole for a couple of months a few years ago and it was quite clear most people in there just wanted their pocket money and didnt give a shit whether they found work or not.

I have unfortunatly been out of work for quite a while due to injury. I am now beginning to wish i had immediatly gone and asked for dissability/dole money. I did not however, as i decided i did not want to drain anyones money but my own. I think very few people feel any kind of responsibility for what they are taking. like most problems in the world, i belive it is a social one, and one of education. Not in terms of how many degrees yuo have, but in knowing right from wrong, and wanting to stand on your own two feet. I may be verging on broke, but i have some kind of high ground!!!!!

Couldn't agree more, well actually, I could. Job Seekers Allowance ("dole") is actually very little, about £55/week. However, Housing Benefit can be considerably more. People who are on JSA *and* HB should be made to work in the community. Sure, JSA comes from central government, but HB is paid from local government funds, so recipients should be made to repay the local community via public service work.

I think you'll find though, that many people on such benefits would also welcome the opportunity to work. Believe me, I have a lot of close contact and whilst there is a significant number of "scroungers", there are at least as many - if not more - who are not proud to be "on the dole", and would welcome the opportunity to work, simply because it is work and restores their pride and occupies their time.
