But Will That Work? Written by Guest on 2005-12-31 15:27:10 Ok, so you're upset. Understandable. What these men (and occassionally women) is dispicable, but the truth is that removing their genitals doesn't actually change anything. A person's sex drive doesn't lie in their gentials (although sometimes it's hard to believe that) but in their brains. I believe the Danes experimented with a procedure that numbed the particular area of the brain that controls a person's sex drive in order to "relieve" paedophiles of their desires, but I don't know what the result of that was. It's obviously not in use in our western culture, anyway. I worked with abused children (and adults who were abused as children) and in the course of my work, came into contact with several paedophiles. Some never abuse children because they're able to control their sex drive and live through fantasy combined with masturbation. Of course, they'll be fantasing about children, but at least they're not actually hurting any. If only all of them could control themselves in that way. Alas, this isn't a perfect world. What the answer is, I really don't know. What I do know is that you can't "cure" them so there has to be a long-term solution for those who DO abuse children. Unfortunately, I fear that cutting off their gentitals with a blunt knife etc will only turn us into animals, too. I'm not sure I'd like that.

Some genuinly love children much as others love another adult and they have no desire to hurt the child at all. I am not saying that GG falls into this category, but some men do. Would the drastic measures caz advocate be suitable punishment for these men too?
