Why is it that you work hard all your life, provide for you family and even have luxury? Why is it that as soon as you are comfortable in life, in a nice house, in a nice neighbourhood, it has to be taken away from you? My parent’s house got burgled in the middle of broad daylight on Monday. The alarm was on, all doors and windows secure; so how did the thieving scum get in? Why of course – they took the triple glazed aluminium window out of its actual setting!!! Why? Only they know the desperation and what was going through their heads… A generic semi detached house, in a generic suburban street; away from the ‘ghetto’, away from the run-down poverty Salford is known for. A house like any other on the street. So why on earth would they take time and effort to take a window out of its frame? Why did they think they would find something overly valuable in there? Because they thought they’d just piss on everything good people work towards. My parents aren’t rich, they’re not extravagant. They’re comfortable. They have to be, they deserve it. Memories were all that were taken. A camcorder with a video of their 25th anniversary trip to Rome on it. A digital camera with my recent 21st birthday party on it. Only one of two jewellery boxes full of gifts and sentimental jewellery – not the box with the more expensive items. A bracelet; one of three made up of a chain of my dead great great aunties. A TV bought for my parent’s 25th Anniversary. My dad’s treasure other camera, its old and not worth much but it’s probably his pride and joy. They missed the other things in there. The other expensive things. They didn’t even make a mess, ransack the place. They neatly left everything as it was, even getting in through the removed kitchen window, they moved everything first so they didn’t mess anything up or create noise. Why? And all in fifteen minutes. Right before my mum came back for lunch from work. What would have happened if my mum had caught them in there? It makes me feel sick to even imagine. These bastards don’t care anymore. I was watching Crimewatch and they even shot a shopkeeper dead before trying to steal anything and ended up leaving empty handed. Why?! It just makes me feel sick to think that I would be bringing a new life into this world one day. Only registered users can write comments.
