Why bother working E-mail
Written by Baz
These days, I really do wonder why I bother getting out of bed and going to work in the mornings. What is the point? Once upon a time, the working man had little luxuries, things that non-working people couldn't afford. A car, nice house, foreign holidays... these were all things that were once the domain of the working people. Unemployed people simply couldn't afford it.

But now, everybody seems "entitled" to all these things, so my next question is this: where is the incentive for lazy arsed people to get out of bed each morning and go to work? The answer: there is none!

I know endless people that don't work, yet seem to be able to afford nice holidays, expensive furniture, fancy cars and much more. How? Isn't being unemployed something we try to discourage? Because if it is, then we are going the wrong way about it. How can giving these lay-abouts all the trimmings of a working man's life, be making him realise that getting a job is a better option?

Quite frankly, im a bit pissed off that I go to work each day, work hard, earn my money and live quite an average life on the grand scale of things. However, I know people who are unemployed who are leading a much more desirable life than myself. To be honest, the only thing stopping me from going unemployed and jumping on the government gravy train is my pride. I like to feel I have earned the things I own. However, every day that passes by, and every unemployed person that passes me by in his flash car, I wonder why I bother.

I pay my mortgage, they get their rent free. I pay my council tax, they get it free. I pay to have my house decorated, they get it free. I pay to fix any problems in my home, they get it free. Can you see a pattern forming here? Thats right... an average person on an average wage (say £15k in these parts) spends around half his wage each month meeting his minimum financial commitments. The rest is spent buying food, paying a phone bill and heating, electricity and water. After all that, the average Joe is left with bugger all.

So, what about Mr and Mrs lazy arse who cant be bothered to work? Well, they may "only" (in their words) get around £100 per week, but the point is... ALL of that is virtually theirs to spend on themselves.

My point is, shouldnt people who cannot work be made to feel a bit like they are suffering? This would give them the incentive to want to work... to make a better life for themselves. But by the time our government has finished throwing cash at them in the form of various benefits they are "entitled" to, they are actually leading a pretty nice life, thank you very much. How can they afford cars? Should they be allowed to own a car if they are not working? Surely a car is a luxury? If they can afford a car, then in my eyes, they are being paid too much, and the same goes for beer and fags too.

I wish this government would get real and wake up to the fact that in about 10 years from now, NOBODY will want to work, as their benefit systems are too generous and you can actually end up worse off by working. They need to seriously think about this. Even people who like to work are starting to think "whats the point?" and consider jumping on the bandwagon. Who can blame them?

Well, I had better go now, as I HAVE FECKING WORK TO DO!!! If any unemployed people are reading this, sat at home in their comfy lifestyle.... go get a fecking job, ya lazy arse!
